Who Are We?
Workability Alliance is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit specifically serving young adults in the neurodivergent community who seek to gain experience in order to secure employment in the food service and retail industries through our 9-week hands-on training program. Our specialized and innovative workforce development program is the perfect opportunity to gain the experience and skills necessary to thrive in the workplace.
Where Are We Located?
Vocational Training Environments & Skills Labs
Our program operates structural, hands-on instructional labs designed specifically to give neurodivergent young adults authentic career experience. Through a collaborative workspace arrangement within the local Do It Yum shop, our trainees practice vital workforce skills in a supervised, live customer-facing environment. Here are the core vocational tracks our trainees experience in these physical spaces:
Food Service & Hospitality Track
Trainees utilize a real-world culinary environment to master the foundations of the food service industry. Operating within the kitchen and counter spaces, students receive intensive instruction on food safety protocols, nutritional presentation, daily custodial maintenance, and professional customer service. This hands-on curriculum integrates point-of-sale cash handling and inventory management, fully preparing our trainees for competitive employment and future success in community hospitality roles.
Retail Operations & Business Track
Students also rotate through an instructional retail environment designed to develop versatile business operation skills. This space serves as a classroom where trainees master visual merchandising, maintain structured organizational displays, and learn the mechanics of inventory restocking. By practicing communication protocols and working under supervision with inventory records from local creators, trainees build the foundational organizational and organizational skills necessary for long-term career success.
What Are the Costs?
Tuition Assistance & Program Fees
As a registered 501(c)(3) organization, Workability Alliance is dedicated to ensuring our training remains accessible to everyone, regardless of financial circumstances. The base cost to deliver this intensive program is $1,200 per trainee slot. However, our primary mission is to eliminate financial barriers. Through the generous support of corporate grants, community donors, and ongoing fundraising efforts, we are always working hard to waive or heavily subsidize these costs for families in need. Financial constraints should never be a barrier to enrollment—our team will work with your family to secure scholarships and tuition assistance.
Program Schedule & Completion
Our comprehensive curriculum consists of hands-on learning sessions held 3 hours per day, 3 days a week, spanning a total of 9 weeks. Because consistency is vital to mastering these professional skills, students must meet all attendance requirements to graduate. Upon successful completion of the full 9-week course, trainees will be awarded a professional Certificate of Completion.
What Does Your Curriculum Look Like?
Our trainees do not just learn in a classroom, they train inside an active, vibrant, social work environment. Our curriculum focuses on the following skills:
Professionalism & Attitude: Workplace communication, accepting feedback, teamwork, and uniform compliance..
Customer Care & Engagement: Greeting guests, active listening, order accuracy, and conflict resolution.
Technical Mastery: Food safety standards, sanitation, bussing, dishwashing, equipment operation, and cash handling.
Facility Maintenance: Deep cleaning, organization, restructuring displays, and safety checks.
